"Love Is Patient"

Patience was truly part of adhering this collage to the painted canvas. I realized it would have been simpler to partially assemble the collage before affixing it to the canvas but hey it worked and I'll know for next time. I am enjoying this style for now. OH- these snowmen made their journey sucessfully to the gallery as well and are having a wonderful time.

"Be Joyful In Hope"

This piece "Be Joyful In Hope" is finally canvas framed and ready to put in a gallery. It just needs a backing to cover where I sewed the piece onto the canvas.

Black/White Preemie Quilt

Dog and cats on black background liven up this black/white preemie quilt. What a fun and simple way to offer hope and encouragement to the parents of premature babies and the nurses too.

Preemie Fun

Preemie quilts for the local Neonatal Unit is a fun way to utilize the 6 inch strips I've been cutting from my remnants. I've created several purple/brown/tan Preemie quilts. Guess I use purple a lot in other projects as well that reaps these remnants.

This Is The Day

This is the day that the LORD has made.
I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Options...

Here's some options I am considering for mounting this small 5" X 5" piece onto this black painted canvas. I plan to tear the fabric to give it a natural edge and possibly use some of these brass mesh and ribbon embellishments. I'm thinking it needs another texture element. Thoughts??

Yada Yada Prayer Group

I'm usually not a fiction fan, especially one that is over 400 pages. But my favorite daughter (yes, I only have one) recommended this series and it's AWESOME! I'm almost finished with Book 2 and have Book 3 on it's way to at my local library branch. It's encouraging, good fun and a quick read.

Playing With 6 Inch Strips Again

Several months ago I cut a lot of my remnants into 6 inch strips. This fun size is great to create a preemie quilt, child's quilt or wall hanging. I noticed last night that the 4th row is a bit dark near the bottom so I'll "wes" (sew backwards) and change out a few of the strips then add to the remaining rows.

More Bowl Beginnings

Some new fabrics and discharge spray for the far right fabric inspire some new Quilted Leaf Bowls.

"Oh I Wish....."

We were just singing the Oscar Meyer theme song while riding in the car and reminiscing the other day. So when I mentioned that The Oscar Meyer Weinermobile would be in town hubby surprised me and took me to see it. What fun!

Blowing In The Wind

Volunteering has some benefits...like this hat that had the hospital's logo & "Volunteer" boldly yet nicely embroidered on it. So what's a fiber artist to do?? Cover it with torn strips of batik fabric and embellish it. Now I'm ready for riding with my hubby with the windows down and sunroof wide open! Of course it has a torn fabric tie to keep it on.

Christmas in July/August

It seem that many folks are like I am in that they like to find Christmas tree ornaments during their Summer travels as mementos of their trip. So, here's a few Quilted Snowmen that didn't make the trip home with someone from the Asheville Quilt Guild Boutique but are ready for their next adventure in a local shop. Bon Voyage.

Subtleties

Adding tiny aqua beads to the neckline (front and back) of this thrift store find adds just just a touch of fun.

Asheville Quilt Show

There were SO many wonderful entries as always.
Helen McCarthy does beautiful work and this piece
caught my eye. It's peaceful and won a special award
from the Arboretum.
Notice the Seminole piecing at the bottom!
Nice job Helen.

Great Show

The Asheville Quilt Show was a wonderful show.
It was fun to see my work hanging there.
The Red/black/white batik piece -
"Rejoice in the Lord" was in the miniature
category while the green/black batik piece
was in the Art Quilt category.

Silent Auction Piece Finished!

I stamped the verse on this
piece since I didn't leave
myself time to hand
embroider it.
It's quilted and complete.
I hope it brings a good bid.

Silent Auction

Isn't it great to have some blocks already made
that you can "quickly" piece together to create
something in a hurry!
These Cobblestone blocks and
Bull's Eye Blocks seemed to blend naturally
for this piece for the
Asheville Quilt Guild Silent Auction.
Proceeds benefit Community Quilt projects.

Fiber Added

By simply adding fiber to the top edge
of each of these "plain " top edges, it adds
just enough in my opinion.

Asheville Quilt Show

The Asheville Quilt Show begins tomorrow.
It is a wonderful show held at the NC Arboretum.
I am blessed to have 2 quilts in the show and
several items for sale in the Boutique.
There's also a show connected with this being
held in the Biltmore Square Mall with additional
vendors.
I am blessed to have 5 small wall hangings there
that are also for sale.
Check it out if you are able.
(For some reason, my photos aren't
loading to my blog but I'm creating.)

Leaf Bowls

These leaf bowls are fun to create.
Any opinions on the different edging
styles of satin stitch of
raw edge cut with deckle cutter?
