"The Lord Is My Light And My Salvation"

Although naming a piece can be challenging,
this banner now has a name and label
sewn onto the back!

Framed and Delivered!

It is exciting and encouraging to deliver
a commission piece and the new owner likes it a lot.
Of course the payment check where I give 50% of
my proceeds to missions is nice too.

"Down Oak Apple Lane"

Mary Hinkle created this FUN piece for the Quilt Show sponsored by the Western NC Quilters Guild and Tarheel Piecemakers Quilt Club. I voted for it as my show favorite! The photos doesn't do it justice. There's big stitch quilting, stenciling, tulle overlays, fun binding etc. FUN FUN -
Way to go Mary!

Flower Appliqued

After trying an orange thread and a different stitch then
removing it, I chose to machine applique this fun
flower with a lemon yellow thread.

Verse Embroidered

The machine stitching guidelines I posted about
recently worked well for embroidering this section.
The guidelines were removed along the way so that
they wouldn't get caught in the embroidery.

I was the winner of the beautiful creation
by Baumcat recently and it arrived today!
It's even more beautiful in person.
Thanks Cathy!

Miniatures

The red/black/white batik miniature top
just needs a border ... I think.
Currently it's 11 1/2 inches X 15 1/2 inches.
Anyone know the correct "rules" for a miniature?
Will this piece qualify?

"Flowers Fade"

Michele P created this piece for
the Crafting With Kindness
Fat Quarter Challenge.
We each brought a fat quarter for a blind exchange.
Micheles' fat quarter was the fabric she
used for the flowers.
She dyed the background fabric, used
hand embroidery, and it is hand quilted!
Great job Michele !
Isn't the toile and organza ribbon a nice feature!!

New Technique

Usually I try and mark the fabric with lines similar to a child's first writing tablet to give a basic plan before embroidering a Bible verse on a piece. Often this is a challenge even considering a plethora of marking tools. This time I am trying a basting stitch - except the few lines where my machine switched back to a smaller stitch for some reason. I'm hopeful it will work and removal of the stitching will be fine.

Label Ready

The sleeve is on and now to decide how/what
to put on the label. I think a block similar to many on
the front of the banner is appropriate for the label and
the pink area gives lots of room for information.
Any suggestions as for a name?
Darkness to Light??

More Quilting

After the "light" area was quilted with light yellow thread,
I began quilting the "dark" area with a variegated green/blue thread.
Loops and leaves.

Rejoice Always

This is the beginnings of a commission piece
but I'm wanting to look at some more red batiks
to make the background larger.

June Is Preemie Month

Crafting With Kindness group is creating Preemie Quilts for the local Neonatal Unit each time we meet this month. This one uses 2 inch squares of remnants. They are fun to make and very appreciated. We haven't had a baby complain yet - LOL.

Cross Banner Quilting Begun

After sectioning off the "light" sections of the cross banner
with easy to see flower pins, I began the machine quilting
loops and leaf shapes using light yellow thread.

Slow/Fun Progress

Recently, while attending a Fiber Art gathering,
I happily hand pieced some more blocks.
Someone asked if I was crazy to do hand
piecing and I replied, "I think so, but I enjoy it
and it keeps me out of trouble."

"Wait For The LORD"

This is another small Verse Wall Hanging like the one posted yesterday.

I've incorporated some 3D leaves of screen fiber. It is also approximately 16" x 10".

"Sing To The Lord A New Song"

I began creating fun Verse Wall Hangings that are about 16" X 10" as presents shortly after my daughter became a missionary to Paraguay where I found these cute flower buttons.
It has been fun yet a challenge to use "short" verses that would fit in the inner section.
This one is hand and machine quilted.

More From Fiber Arts Group

Gen Grundy, a fellow member of
the Fiber Arts Alliance created this beautiful piece
that is hanging in the Salon Blue Ridge .
See Post below.

The Fiber Arts Alliance met yesterday at the
where some of us had our Fiber Art
wonderfully displayed.
How gracious is this innovative
showroom and meeting space to
host our group and include us
in their display areas.

Table Runner "Bonus"

If this table runner looks suspiciously like a section from the cross banner posted recently, it is the 11 inch section I cut from the banner to make it more user friendly. So, now I have a table runner. Nice bonus!

"Hand" Project

I had gotten away from always having a "hand" (portable) project ready to take along almost anywhere...until now. I retrieved this project from the cabinet and am adding 2 more Bull's Eye blocks to make 16 total. They are turned under applique and will be cut and reassembled to create a more scrappy style. Interestingly, although I still like green a lot, there's only 1 batik fabric in this project where I almost exclusively use batiks now.
