Handmade Cards

Since I create greeting cards for family and friends' anniversaries and birthdays, I tried out some of my tiny Free Style Cobblestone blocks on some purchased stationary and added Scripture.
It's a fun way to use tiny remnants.

"End Of Your Rope?" - Choose Life

"Choose Life" is the answer when you are at the end of your rope...actually it is The Answer always!
This masculine collage includes batik fabrics, screen and textile fibers, is matted and framed ready to hang.  This would be a great gift for that special man in your life for a wedding, anniversary, birthday or "just because" gift.   Approximately 15" X 20" and now in  My Etsy Shop.

"Like The Crocus It Will Burst Forth Into Bloom"

The center portion of this Quilted Art Piece minus the Scripture and frog, were gleaned from a fellow quilter's cast offs.  After adding the Scripture from Isaiah concerning crocus, it needed a  frog before piecing the checkerboard and blue borders.  It's machine quilted.  What a fun piece to complete.

Children Are A Gift From God

Being is Nana is quite a blessing.  This wall hanging hangs in Chloe's bedroom and was a delight to create especially for her.  Indeed, children are a gift from the Lord - Psalm 127:3.

Bottom Sleeve Lesson

As I'm adding a bottom sleeve to some of my quilted art pieces, I've learned an easier way to do it.  It only took  this third one to figure it out - LOL.  Oh- and Free Style Cobblestone blocks make great labels.

"Pray Continually"

Created from batik fabrics gleaned only from the "remnant" bin, this brown and blue wall hanging was a delight to create!  The oak leaves are hand appliqued and the whimsical style is reminiscent of falling leaves which are so wonderful this time of year.  If you would like to own this fun piece, contact me as it will be going to my Etsy Shop soon.

I've begun adding an additional sleeve to the bottom of my Quilted Art Wall Hangings as well as the one on top for hanging.  It  aids in the piece hanging straight.

Thanks Lori! & Wool Sock Update

Slow but sure progress on knitting wool socks.  They are both on the same long circular needle and I'm dropping hardly any stitches lately!  I'm wondering if Robyn at the yarn shop is missing me popping by for regular help.....Robyn if you read this I'd enjoy having your email.
Thanks Lori for these cute treat bag tags and bags that I won from her recent blog give away.  Lori is a gifted artist and very generous too.

These tiny stitches are a challenge and somewhere I dropped one on the back side a couple of rows ago. UGH!   The ladies at the yarn shop said not to do anything but bring it in....hmm ..when to do that?

Demos -Free Style Cobblestone Block

What a fun weekend on the EAST Studio Tour.  Here's some of the blocks that I created from my batik remnant bin during demos in my Choose Life Studio throughout the weekend.  I'll add them to my stash for now and bring them out another day to create a wall hanging, or maybe embellish a dish towel, hand made card....we'll see.

Purple Sculpy Light Switch Plate

When the plan is to add the wall color paint into the white Scuply to cover the light switch plate and there's not enough white Sculpy adding some purple Sculpy to it works too.

Unity Through Repetition

These two wall quilts are my examples of Unity Through Repetition exercise in the Art + Quilt Book.
The leaves above are 3 dimensional
while the stems are organza ribbon.
Besides Unity Through Repetition, these hearts were also a fun exercises in playing with the stitches on my machine.

Valance - Batik - Of Course

Motivation comes in many forms.  Finally painting the kitchen and putting up new valances and rods are all side benefits of preparing for the East of Asheville Studio Tour this coming weekend.  Note to self: it's probably easier to pick a paint color to match the valence fabric than the other way around.  However, with all the wonderful batik fabrics available...it worked out.

#37 More Blessed To Give Challenge

These 4 - 15 inch blocks I created for the Guild Community Quilt group were returned to me along with 16 more to make a child's size quilt.  I used 22 of the blocks for this one and need to add another 15 inch block to create another community quilt.  It's never too late to join me in the More Blessed To Give Challenge.
