Free Style Cobblestone Play Time

Having Free Style Cobblestone blocks already made awaiting a project is quick gratification.
I'm playing with an arrangement on this black canvas before piecing them. Stay tuned.

Hand Made Cards

It was time to restock my supply of hand made cards and spend the day with a friend...
and use each other's supplies!

Gleaning Batik Remnants

What fun when someone brings cast off
remnants to share to a quilt gathering.
Of course I gleaned batiks.

Rolling Sale Fat Quarters

Our local quilt shop is preparing for a huge Super Bowl Sunday sale and to distinguish the sale fat quarters from the regular ones, they are rolled.  20 for $20.  Nice fabrics and many batiks too.

Free Style Cobblestone Block "MICE"

Instead of using a "scrap" piece of fabric as a "mouse" which become these fun hearts, lately, I've been sewing these Free Style Cobblestone Blocks between seams of another project.

Seeking This Black Batik Fabric

Anyone have this black/white pebble style batik fabric and willing to sell it? Purchased a few years ago, I have savored it in many pieces.  Alas, the remains.

Knitted Hat Progress

To and from town with hubby are great times to knit on this hat although only on the straight sections of the road.

Easy Applique'

After emailing this photo to a friend showing one of my methods of applique', I thought maybe others might  find it interested as well.   The leaf shape of freezer paper is shiny side UP and I've begun ironing the green cut out fabric to the "sticky" side.  When flipped over, the edges are crisp and ready to easily sew.  Later, a slit is cut in the back of the foundation piece and the freezer paper is simply removed.

Another Knitted Hat Begun

What fun I had recently showing a friend how to use circular needles to knit a simple rolled edge hat.  This blue yarn is not only beautiful and soft but it was gleaned from a "give away" table.

Hand Quilting Again

For some reason I have struggled with finishing the hand quilting on this piece.  No more.  I plan to work on it some daily until it is complete!

Snow & Creating Pillows

Gorgeous inches of snow offers extra sewing time.
What a treat however I'm reminded why I don't often make pillow covers.  Although, I am enjoying the creativity of playing in the Batik remnants, pillow covers  take a lot of work for a small thing.

More Blessed To Give #2 - 2011

A give away table offered these precut squares
which needed piecing, borders added and
fun flannel backing for another Preemie Quilt.
The birds are thankful for the huge bag of bird seed
Hubby bought as they weather the 7+ inches of snow.

Batik & Mesh Bags

After creating a Batik & Mesh Bag for my knitting supplies,
I realized others might enjoy using one also.
These are getting ready for an upcoming venue
but I'd be glad to create more if there is interest.

Sofa Pillow Idea

Since I decorate mainly with my Art Quilts, our walls and furniture are very basic and "neutral".
The pillows that accompanied the sofa don't compliment our decor yet when I recently placed a wall quilt on top on a pillow,
I realized I may have hit upon an idea...finally.

Aqua Fabric Bowls/Baskets

Dropping off some Fabric Wrapped Bowls for samples
for an upcoming workshop at a local quilt shop
was the perfect reason to create some more.
I also do workshops in homes if anyone is interested.

#1 More Blessed To Give 2011 Challenge

Last year I challenged myself to give away something once a week.  It was fun, challenging and a blessing indeed.  So, I decided to do it again in 2011.
 (Anyone want to join me?)
This Preemie Quilt using 6 inch strips will go to our local Neonatal Unit to hopefully encourage family of a tiny life.

Sharon's Cat Quilt

The sign on the can says,
"Ally Cat Choral Nightly" in this cat block for this quilt
Sharon is creating for her granddaughter!
More cats are basted and ready to quilt.

Preemie Quilt In Progress

It's such fun to poke around in the 6 inch strip box
and start a preemie quilt.
What a great way to start off the year.

No More Growing Purse Strap

After one day of using this fun new
 the strap "grew" several inches.
Opening up the strap and inserting the
shirt placket from a discarded
men's shirt inside
should keep it from further growing.

For Where Your Treasure Is

In preparation for a new venue opportunity early January, I've created these colorful change purse key chains.  If you look closely, you'll recognize some Free Style Cobblestone blocks on a few of them.
A card inside states:  "For where your treasure is there your heart will be also."   Luke 12:34

"Be Silent Before The Lord" - #1 & #2 Siesta Scripture Memory Verses

#1 ~Psalm 37:7 "Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans. "
#2 Psalm 37:8  "Refrain from anger & give up your rage; do not be agitated - it can only bring harm."
That's my first two verses I've written in my my index card pack (not necessary to participate) to use as part of the 2011 Siesta Scripture Memory Team that's I've joined this year.  Recommendations are for 2 verses a month.
I am SO excited!!  Want to join me??
Although difficult to see, the rim of this knitted hat is a checkerboard pattern.  It (#52)  was completed last night before midnight officially completing my 2010 More Blessed To Give Challenge.  I'm thankful for the opportunity, time and supplies for this challenge. It's true -
Acts 20:35, "It  is more blessed to give than to receive."
