"God Is For Us"

As I was retrieving this black/white batik remnant from the bin, I was reminded that a generous soul mailed me3/4 yard more of it...woohoo.  This red collaged 4 X 6 quilted Art piece with screen fiber features
Romans 8:31, "If GOD is for us, who can be against us?"

"The Lord Is My Shepherd"

Collaged blue and green batik remnants combine with stamped lamb, verse and inked circles for this Created By Hand Challenge piece.  I first tried the lamb and verse on organza but it didn't present well.  I actually prefer this as the LORD is The pure white and spotless Lamb.

"Be Glad In It"

Not being certain what the black dotted remnant is the remnant of, yet it adds just the right finishing touch to this red collaged, and organza ribbon piece reminding me that
"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we WILL (emphasis mine) rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24

"When You Pass Through The Floods"

Brown is not  my top fabric color of choice, but I do like it since it has a masculine sense and it works well for gift for the males in our lives.

More - Mail Art Class

More Mail Art Class fun includes Michele's creation where the tree top is made using flower rubbings while her butterfly is mostly of watercolor paints.
We also cut out ransome style letters creating more fun envelopes.
These 2 envelopes were a group creation as we each did a part then passed it around the table.  We all mailed one to each one so it will be fun to get them in the mail soon.

"...Waters, I Will Be With You"

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the floods, they will not sweep over you." Isaiah 43:2
What a great reminder of God's faithfulness and care.

Mail Art Class

Considering that I already mail out many colorful pieces of art using fabric and fiber, being gifted  a weekend class at John C. Campbell Folk School of Mail Art Class taught by Mr. Jeff Menzer
was a treat.  This group project was later cut up to create large envelopes for mailing.

I learned a bit about using watercolors and am looking forward to using this travel size kit more in the future.
We also practiced drawing with a ball point pen which means no erasing and keep moving.  It was quite freeing considering I am not a trained to draw.   Using envelopes is an inexpensive canvas and very practical too as they can potentially bring joy to the recepient.
Stay tuned.

Philippa Naylor Workshop

Philippa is an expert seamstress with clothing making in her background who began quilting and never turned back.  Her delightful British accent and humor delighted our group while she shared many helpful tips and techniques.
Precise curved piecing using freezer paper templates is a bit more detailed than I am on a regular basis, however I learned so much and am please with my piece's progress.
Philipp's colorful piece is an option of many curved blocks into a larger piece while the bottom quilt is a whole cloth quilt with colorful machine quilting and trapunto.  Beautiful!!

Heels Complete - Woohoo!

I was reminded recently that the tortoise always wins the race with the hare in the children's tale.  That's a bit how I feel about these wool knitted socks.  I'm already considering more yarn for then next pair.

Green Challenge

Green...what  a great color!  Reminiscent of growth and rebirth.  "You are inscribed on the palm of his hand" - Isaiah 49:16 is a great verse for this small quilted art with the cross ribbon.  Easter is coming!

Daily Small Art?

Although, being only 4 X 6 inches, this small piece of quilted art can go directly through the mail to the delight of it's recipient. However,  I have found many folks would rather have it framed instead. I've considered creating one a day....hmmmm.

Fabric Still Bleeding

Another attempt to rid this piece of the running dye is wet again, apply Color Catchers again and weigh down with cutting board and cans.  No wonder I am skeptical of hand dyed fabrics.  These were washed and colorwashed before using!

Chatelaine

I recently refurbished my Chatelaine by making more masking tape finger guards, melting another small beeswax thread helper and moving the round  metal piece to the other side of my thumb thimble, cutting a hole for it and sewing it down.  They fit nicely in my pieced Chatelaine along with thread and needles with thread snips attached to the hanger.  Ready for another hand quilting project again. Ahh.

UGH - Bleeding Fabric

Following the rinsing out the blue pen used to write out the verse, the purple hand dyed fabric began to run.  I always prewash my fabrics so this was a bit surprising.  I quickly covered the area with some Color Catchers but they didn't absorb it all.  Guess, I will try again.

With Easter on the horizon, it's time to create some more Easter Bunny Eggs.  These two belong to my grand daughters and one of them mentioned "needing" more for her basket. Awww.
