Shot Cotton Fabric Art Collage

I started another small all handwork fabric art collage 

with some silk and Shot cotton remnants.

 Shot cotton is a unique fabric that is created

 weaving one color thread for the warp

 and another color for the weft.

 As the light catches the two different colors, the fabric glistens.

 As one who does not like glitter,

 liking a bit of shimmer in fabric surprises me.

Recommissioned Wall Quilt | Celebrating Life

Look carefully and you can see that 

these two wall hangings were once one. 

Originally, it was commissioned to be created out of clothing

 honoring a man by his daughter for her mom. 

As the mother passed this year, the daughter recommissioned

 it to be cut in half as a Christmas gift for her and her sister to share.

What an honor to be part in this project to celebrate life.

Redoing Hand Embroidery

Rarely do I rip out stitching, but the darker teal thread (pile on the left)

 dominated the piece as I stitched a vine onto the aqua section. 

So I chose to try a lighter variegated thread which I like much better.
