I'm still procrastinating about pursuing packing

for the pattern I've designed from this piece.

 in the  Embellished Wall Hanging category of the

Red/Orange Quilted Art Leaf Bowls

Here's more quilted art bowls -

this time in red's and oranges.

In lieu of red or brown  fiber yarn,

 I used red and brown fabric strips for the veins.

Class Sample

Part of the class at JC Campbell was to make a sample of our fabric pieces to practice adding painted or watercolor pencil embellishments. I realized that it was almost as easy for me to freehand cut the cone flowers as it was to create them from the pattern I had made from the photo. I'll probably frame this piece and sell it if anyone is interested.

FUNky Buttons

Anyone familiar with my blog knows I like buttons - especially for embellishments. When my local quilt shop got in some of these FUNky buttons, I realized I'd finally found a way to embellish my thrift store purse and still allow it to compliment many outfits. I simply threaded torn strips of batik selvage and knotted it then sewed it to the purse. I think the first photo looks a bit like a cereal character advertised on TV. ** I'm still seeking opinions from yesterday's post. **

Christmas Gift Ideas

Each of these 3 pieces would make an excellent Christmas gift to offer encouragement and hope to some one's home or office. Each piece has hand embellished element's, Scripture and are signed. $48 each.

Paint Embellishments

Although the background is coming together, one set of fabric strips needed embellishing. Of course, that was evident until pieced. So, masking tape, paint, textile medium, sponge, leaf stamp and opened recycled envelope came out to add just what was missing.

SOLD

I'm excited to say this piece Sold in a local gallery.

It took part in the Asheville Quilt Guild Show.

I pray it is a blessing to the new owner.

HOPE

With the embellishments added and binding fused, this piece is finished.

I'm hoping there will be a Collage Mania 2010 so I can donate this 8 X 10 piece that raises money for American Cancer Society Research.

The Lord Is My Shepherd"

As I was praying yesterday about how I haven't had much energy to really create a new piece of art, I was reminded that creating a new piece of art would give me more energy. SO, I used my Zig brushables to write a verse on some swirly paper, cover that with PVA adhesive, then paint a wash over it to make it bluer. Toile, buttons, black paint, fiber and black seed beads on 2 binding borders and a standing sheep combine for this little piece of energy. What do you think? It's 8 X 10 and will be sewn to a canvas after I paint it black.

"Love Is Patient"

Patience was truly part of adhering this collage to the painted canvas. I realized it would have been simpler to partially assemble the collage before affixing it to the canvas but hey it worked and I'll know for next time. I am enjoying this style for now. OH- these snowmen made their journey sucessfully to the gallery as well and are having a wonderful time.

Options...

Here's some options I am considering for mounting this small 5" X 5" piece onto this black painted canvas. I plan to tear the fabric to give it a natural edge and possibly use some of these brass mesh and ribbon embellishments. I'm thinking it needs another texture element. Thoughts??

Blowing In The Wind

Volunteering has some benefits...like this hat that had the hospital's logo & "Volunteer" boldly yet nicely embroidered on it. So what's a fiber artist to do?? Cover it with torn strips of batik fabric and embellish it. Now I'm ready for riding with my hubby with the windows down and sunroof wide open! Of course it has a torn fabric tie to keep it on.

now embellish the new purse I posted on July 1.

New Purse

This black fabric stripped purse is

similar to one I saw recently.

It was simple to create however but I'm not

totally satisfied with the button embellishment.

Any suggestions?
