"Morning Song", Purple Bird Quilted Fine Art Wall Hanging began as a challenge by artist,
Lorie Hancock McCown to use this light green fabric.
I took the challenge although It was a bit trickier than I first realized.
I completed the top, sans the bird quilt overlay, which was part of one of my
April Art Daily compositions where I did a bird a day.
Later, I chose to add the bird to the challenge collage
and finish the edges in fushia. Notice the hand embroidery detail
that enhances this deep purple, green and hand dyed fabric sections.
Tulle and organza add a bit of whimsy.
Measuring 28: X 25" and machine signed by artist.
I like to intersperse circular spirals when the batik
Free Style Cobblestone Block is squarish. Day 153 A Block A Day Challenge
has blue hand quilting and for the green coping strip, purple quilted squiggles.
