"Hope" Modern Female Silhouette Finished
"Hope" is 6th in a spontaneous series honoring women.
Hand applique collage of hand painted purple fabric,
green / yellow color lifted fabric on a majestic deep purple twill fabric.
The female silhouette "dress" is hand embroidery embellished with various stitches as part of participating in the #ayearinstitches challenge.
Measuring 28 inches wide X 27 inches long,
it is completed with a hanging sleeve making it ready to hang.

Rust Dying Fabric | Orange....Me?
a remnant from the mill her relatives ran many years ago.
I gathered tomato paste and cans and lids
and put my piece outside,
prayed with vinegar and waited for the elements to create design.
Several days later I looked and the fabric was
under a layer
of red clay silt from recent rains and very orange.
After several washings,
it's ready for embroidery layered on batik fabrics.
2 strands teal Running Stitch and Cross Stitch.

"She Is Not Afraid" label is emboidered using
a green Y Stitch.

Day 311 #ayearinstitches
It's not often I have a name for a composition
before it's complete. Sometimes, naming
a piece can be quite difficult.
But this name , "JOY"
came to me a few days ago.
"Joy" is getting more detail.
The White Pearle cotton Seed Stitch
on the linen hankie is complete.
Brown Back Stitch for her hand and neck.
Black Back Stitch for her hair.
