Art With Fabric Blog Hop & Day 143 A Block A Day Challenge

"Welcome Hummingbirds"
Mounted on black panel 12 " X 24 " panel board.
Thank you Alida for inviting me to participate in the Art With Fabric Blog Hop
along with many other wonderful artists.  Be sure to check it out.
Inspiration
Living in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina,
inspiration abounds. I especially enjoy purple Coneflowers
for their sweet fragrance and purple color that attract humming birds
and that they showcase their beauty all Summer in our area.
When seeking particular inspiration for the Art With Fabric Blog Hop,
I looked around Pinterest for "traditional" art  and
came across Marni Maree's beautiful watercolor.
And since I had previously begun a Mini series of flowers,
I chose to combine ideas of the Blog Hop theme and my Mini Flower Series.
Marni Maree WATERCOLOR
Construction
Creating with improvisational piecing by hand or machine
from my batik remnants is my sweet spot so
combining various blue batik remnants seemed natural.
Blue batik remnants from the
Queen sized bed quilt that I am also currently hand quilting
began the process.
Mixing various patterns and shades of blue batik fabric gave motion to my composition.
Additions of hand stamping overlays and screen fibers gave the element of surprise and texture that I was seeking.
Coneflowers in purple batik fabric were hand cut then fused
as were the free hand cut green batik stems and leaves.
Hand embroidered screen fiber binding further relates to the Mini Flower Series,
I was pleased with this addition.
Others in my Flower Mini Series

First in the Mini Flower Series was this
bold orange flower piece that began as an assignment of an
online art course. You can read more about it  here.

I knew after creating a similar composition using a bold
orange flower, that I wanted  to make another one with happy yellow flowers.
You can read more about it here.
This series will be in my Etsy Shop for sale.
Thanks for checking out my Fiber Art.  Enjoy the Art With Fabric Blog Hop

Bull's Eye Twin Quilt Complete Day 97 - A Block A Day Challenge

Image may contain: indoor

I completed this blue, black & white modern Bull's Eye twin quilt today.
I looked back to my blog and saw I began it March 5th
with fabrics from my stash and a few gifted me
from one of my granddaughters.
I'm pondering ideas for a pillow sham.

Day 4 Your 30-Day Art Challenge & Day 33 A Block A Day Challenge

I'ts so fun to be a part of this worldwide Art Group on Facebook.
Today's prompt:
Day #4: Design your own self-portrait on how it would look
to live out of God's abundance, rather than your own self-image.
Bright yellow (happy) swirl fabric female silhouette
on a teal (healing) swirl fabric.
"released" in fuchsia thread.
I created several female silhouettes in 2017
following this prompt without realizing it.
Another larger section added to and connected.
I had to tape/push pin it up on my basement wall to
process the bottom right side.

Orange Snap Tape HeART Addition & Day 19 A Block A Day Challenge

Snap tape intrigues me
and since I recently obtained a baggie full of it,
I folded and embroidered it down on
this Orange Embroidered HeART as a surprise element
amidst lots of hand embroidery.
It's available in my ETSY Shop.
Only 19 days into this challenge, A Block A Day,
it's tempting to feel like my progress is too slow.
I keep reminding myself -
"slow progress is still progress".

Busy days like today make the A Block A Day Challenge
possible to just accomplish 1 block.
It's still progress and leaves room for less busy
days to accomplish more blocks if I desire.
Today I delivered these to Framed Quilted HeArts donations
 for the upcoming
Have A Heart Fundraiser that benefits
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tryon, NC.
