Thank You Veterans!

"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends."

Thank you Vetrans!

I recently spent some time playing with a new product - Decolorant.  It's a citrus smelling, thick product that decolours fabric without using bleach.  It can be applied with a rubber stamp, paint brush, etc.  After it dries, you heat it with an iron and the color disappears.  Interesting product.

Red/Orange Quilted Art Leaf Bowls

Here's more quilted art bowls -
this time in red's and oranges.
In lieu of red or brown  fiber yarn,
I used red and brown fabric strips for the veins.

Color Relationships

This Art + Quilt exercise asks for 6 inch "solid" fabrics for background with 3 inch "solid" fabrics for the centers.  I gleaned these fabrics from my hand dyed fabric box. Some were already 6 inches that I purchased long ago while others were ones I hand painted using Setacolor.

#23 & #24 More Blessed To Give - Block Sharing

Our local quilt guild has asked for 15 inch blocks made of strips of remnants.
Somehow they will be used creatively to make children's quilts for donation.
It will be interesting to see the results.

#22 More Blessed To Give Challenge

More 6 inch strips - purple this time - combine to create another Preemie Quilt.
The hardest part is having enough on one fabric to do sashing and the back.
Obviously, that doesn't always work as the photo shows...but it works.

In Progress

These 6 inch strips are fun to work with but a bit slow
for a Preemie Quilt.
Directions available with your email address.

Whimsical Cone Flowers

What a difference a background makes.
These cone flowers are basically the
same as the one yesterday yet the
background is very different.

Anniversary Block

Digital photos help a lot to give perspective.
I'm making slow progress probably due to the facts that
I rarely use a pattern and/or do realistic type pieces.
Constructive suggestions are very welcome!!

What Was I Thinking!

In a bold moment, OK, I did pray about it, but in a bold moment, I agreed to make one of the blocks for the Blue Ridge Parkway 75th Anniversary Quilt which will hang in the Folk Art Center. Hubby and I honeymooned camping in Blue Ridge Parkway over 30 years ago and have camped still many times since, so I naturally think of camping when I think of the Parkway.
There's trees to add and maybe a black bear. It's due very soon....what was I thinking!

Fiber Arts Alliance

Fiber Arts Alliance's Show and Tell is so inspiring and so much fun.
The above piece is by Trish, a new member. This piece is the result of classes with Marilyn Wall at John C. Campbell.

Sally is such a hoot and her pieces are so creatively fun!
There was so much more. Thanks ladies.

Save The Date

Save the Date is a recent popular term for upcoming weddings. But I'm using it to announce my first official quilt teaching class at the local quilt shop. I'll be teaching Free Style Cobblestones. It should be a blast. Some other examples of the block used in art pieces are here, here, and here.

#16 & #17 More Blessed To Give

These particular Preemie Quilts for my More Blessed To Give Challenge were made from 5 3/4 inch squares and 2 1/2 inch borders which makes them about 20 inches square. Our local Neonatal unit requests Preemie Quilts anywhere from 20 to 25 inches square. You may want to call your local unit to see their preference. Care to join me?
