Just A Wee Bit Short

This "all hand" wall hanging
reminds me that...
I like hand piecing.
I like hand quilting.
I'm not so sure about attaching
binding by hand.
And now, I'm awaiting the drying of
a piece of fabric I've over painted
to blend with the
 purple portion of the binding
that is just a wee but short.

Thanks Kathy!

Student's Creativite Solution

After piecing her Free Style Cobblestone Blocks

How clever!

#28 More Blessed To Give Challenge

Realizing that this scarf  will warm someone in January
when they are delivered to the homeless
is motivation enough to knit it in hot Summer.

"She Can Laugh At The Days To Come"

After assembling the blocks from the
I chose this block to hand embroider
this verse that the Lord has me
focused on recently.
"She is clothed in strength and dignity,
she can laugh at the days to come."
Proverbs 31:25

Stuck

A Color Relationships exercise was the
motivation for this piece and a desire
to use some hand dyed/painted  fabrics
I have created and/or collected.
I'm considering a stripy pieced border
but think it needs to have some pizazz.
Suggestions?

Student's Work

Joan proved the Free Style Cobblestones work
in a variety of fabric types as she created this
pillow top from upholstery remnants gleaned
from a relative's thrifts store find.

Carole's piece has a rich, coffee time feel and
has already been claimed by her daughter
upon it's completion.

Sally included some photos printed onto fabric alongside her fun batik
Free Style Cobblestones.  What a great idea!

Thanks Arlene

Fabric Post cards are such fun to create
and a great way to express
"Thanks", "Happy Birthday" or whatever.
I've not met Arlene but received some batik
remnants through Meg who put them on the
"Share" table at a recent Fiber Arts Alliance.
Thanks Arlene and Thanks Meg.
(Now that the photo is taken,
I can finish addressing the Post Card.)

a quilting landscaping class at
John C. Campbell.

Hubby Likes Mustard

Hubby likes mustard. Me...it's good in very small amounts.
That is until I wanted to see if I could color the white part of this batik
yellow and smeared mustard all over it,
let it dry then gently washed the fabric.
It was even more successful that the photo allows.
The right Freestyle Cobblestone block is the fabric "plain".

Mosaic Mountains

Recently I've seen more and more artists creating mosaic backgrounds
so I pulled out this piece I created several years ago.
The mosaic "look" is so fun and using remnants is quite rewarding!
OH- I just noticed this piece must have been
before I added Scripture  and quilted signatures
to all my pieces ....maybe it is  time?

Color Relationships - Mine

Here's the basic exercise. OK...but a bit plain.

Next, I auditioned some batik circles
left from another project.
Then, the last  two photos utilize the cut outs from
the appliqued green squares.
I am considering hand dyed strips for a border.
Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Sherry B. created these 2 pieces for our
Color Relationships exercise
as we are going through the Art+ Quilt book together.
(She laid them on the back of one of my pieces
for the photo.)

Quilted Art Party Hats!

We enjoy celebrations and
what party would be complete without
Quilted Art Party Hats??
Looks like I need to create some bigger ones!
