"Fucshia Cone-flowers"

"Fuchsia Cone-flowers" is a cheerful Contemporary Textile Purple Cone-flowers that sway on an improvisational pieced blue batik background enhanced by screen fiber and hand embroidery. 
While living in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, inspiration abounds however I especially enjoy colorful Cone-flowers for their sweet fragrance, Summer long beauty and purple color that attracts local Hummingbirds.
Creating with improvisational piecing whether by hand or machine from my batik remnants is my sweet spot so combining various blue batik remnants from another project seemed a natural start for the background of this piece.
Additions of hand stamped overlays and screen fibers offer elements of surprise and texture. 3 purple batik Cone-flowers are hand cut and accented by free hand cut green batik stems and leaves.
Unique hand embroidered screen fiber binding completes "Welcoming Hummingbirds" which is 2nd in a spontaneous Mini Flower Series.
Machine Quilted & signed by artist.
Mounted on a 12" X 24" black panel. Ready to hang. $300

Grand-kid Gifts | Day 347 A Block A Day Challenge.

Years ago, Christmas Eve, I overheard my youngest say to his siblings,

 "I wonder what Mom made us this year." Realizing I had yet to do so, 

I waited until they were asleep, gathered a newish sweat shirt each from their dressers, 

dinosaur cookie cutters and some paint. 

Christmas morning all 4 children had unique hand stenciled sweat shirts. 

I still create a handmade gift for Christmas, yet now for my grandchildren

. And since their moms are online, the photo of my project is hopefully disguised.
