UGH - Bleeding Fabric

Following the rinsing out the blue pen used to write out the verse, the purple hand dyed fabric began to run.  I always prewash my fabrics so this was a bit surprising.  I quickly covered the area with some Color Catchers but they didn't absorb it all.  Guess, I will try again.

Hello, Julie! Your Giveaway package arrived yesterday but I was too sick with the flu to open it...saved it for when I could revel in it's beauty! Today I opened it and I love it and I THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It's a treasure, like you! ♥Kathy

Sorry about the runny dye. There isn't much that's more irritating, that's for sure.
Just in case you're unaware of it, there's a terrific product called "Retayne" that can help set the colors in fabric (although it may only work on natural fibers like cotton, silk, etc.). I've had good luck with it, especially on fabrics that are hand-dyed or are dyed with colors that are very saturated. I bought my supply at my local quilt shop, but I've also seen it online at several websites.
Hope that helps.

Synthrapol and hot water saved a quilt that had already been accepted into a show! It was the same color that ran on mine. Synthrapol is designed to remove excess dye and to prepare fabric for dying. I do use Retayne to set fabrics that I buy from the store.
