A fun part of creating a piece where the components are somewhat random is that you can add coping strips here and there and make the puzzle work. These squares and coping strips were fused together onto the release paper that comes with the fusible web. The borders are next.

Which One?
I've been playing with the hand dyed strips that Anita
slipped into my bag at Fiber Arts.
I want to make the piece just using these fun strips.
First, I added fusing to the backs of the strips.
Next, I randomly cut a center piece then fused the surrounding sides
to make an approximate square in a square design.
The challenge comes in that none of the "squares" are the same size
and the colors are so random.
I plan to add more borders of additional hand dyed fabric from Anita.
Which one do you prefer?

Calligraphy On Fabric
Since I add Scripture to all my Quilted Art Pieces,
I wondered how I could accomplish it on fabric.
First I practiced on paper, then on fabric where the paint ran.
Next, I prepared some fabric with a diluted white glue and let it dry.
Then I diluted some acrylic paint and used it in a calligraphy pen.
It worked.
I plan to begin utilizing this technique in some of my Quilted Art pieces.

20 inch - 25 inch Square
Our local Neonatal Unit accepts tiny quilts that are between
20 - 25 inches square.
They prefer minimal quilting so I just sew a decorative stitch
around the perimeter.
You may want to check with your local Unit for their specifics.
Mostly for parental moral, these Preemie Quilts are fun and quick to create.
This is the second Preemie this week using the purple and brown 6 inch strips
and I have enough for at least one more.

Fun Fleece Clava
OK - I had to look up the correct name for this and came up with Clava.
It's really just a 15 minute project that's like a hoodie without the sweatshirt!
I had a pattern years ago but used my old clava to make one that
sewed up very quickly. It was great for today's windy day walk with my dog.

Part Of Something BIG
I am thrilled to take part in the Queen sized quilt that Carol R. is creating.
All 5 of us from Crafting With Kindness group contributed 6 inch squares which
Carol sorted into darks and lights.
She then drew a diagonal line on the backs of the lights to be sewn into half square triangles.
I sewed up this stack of them that Michele P. paired.
It's exciting to be part of a bigger project!

More Butterfly Tins
There's an amazing 3 day weekend for youth, Chrysalis and college aged folks, Journey that is an opportunity for them to renew or rekindle their commitment to Christ. During the weekend, they receive small token reminders of God's love called Agape. I collect Altoid tins (rectangular and circular) and cover them with butterfly fabric for Agape. (Oct. 18, 2008 entry showed circular tins.)

For several years I have met with a group of quilting ladies on Super Bowl Sunday
to sew and create for an extended period of time. We start at 3 PM and go late.
