Experimenting With Cold Wax On Real Leaves

As I am exploring ways to add leaf shapes to my current composition,

 I am looking at ways to preserve the brown leaves I collected from the GOA weekend. 

A friend suggested trying rubbing cold wax that painters use to preserve the actual leaves.

 Here they are airing. 

Has anyone else tried this method on real leaves?

Real Leaf on Hand Dyed Fabric

No surprise that living in WNC I enjoy leaves 

and often incorporated them and nature in my Fiber Art.

This is a real leaf that I preserved on hand

dyed fabric mounted on a black cradle board.

The fall leaves here have been wonderful!
