Prompt for Day #2: 

Create a piece of art based on 

one of the names of God that means a lot to you.

I chose God is Love and 

 chose to use what I had on hand (watercolor and paper) to create this banner.

Each heart has an attribute as listed in I Corinthians 13.

UPDATE - I repainted the hearts red and rewrote the words in white paint..

Whew - 2 challenges at a time.....good but challenging.

On another note, I signed up for the 

Your 30-Day Art Challenge on Facebook based on daily prompts.

Day #1: Create something based on one of God’s promises

 that is meaningful to your personal journey.

Not being a watercolor artist, I felt led to stretch and 

create the scene from my small studio window

based on Psalm 18:19 -" He brought me out into a spacious place.  

He rescued me because He delighted in me."

At first I didn't see the symbolism of the woods encroached driveway 

opening up to the world beginning with my sewing machine/quilted art.

2 sections of Free Style Cobblestone blocks

combine to one larger section.

Progress....yes.

Reversing Lies - Day 29 A Block A Day Challenge

If you've followed my art for awhile,

you know I prefer smaller Quilted Art pieces.

Thus, the reason this bed quilt has been

in progress for so long.  

I believed the lie that I couldn't get it straight since it was so big

and it would be a waste of time, effort and batik fabric. 

And today after praying again about this project,

 I was reminded of truth -  I have made at least 7 bed sized quilts 

successfully previously so I can do it again.

How do you reverse lies you believe about your art?

Day 29 is the top section of my bed quilt completed with

the far right section being added today.

Female Silhouette Reflection - Day 28 A Block A Day Challenge

Thankfully, I gave myself some wiggle room with my

"A Block"  A Day Challenge.

I have the freedom to interpret "A Block" in various ways.

Part of a female silhouette was added

and the block  was machine quilted.

I added some coping strips to the block on the right.

Red Hand Painted Silk Scarf & Day 26 A Block A Day Challenge

As part of Surface Design Group fun,

we hand pained silk scarfs using a gelli plate technique.

What fun to add various sized circles, bicycle shapes and other

fun surprises that transformed this once all white scarf

into a special red one. 

Today's block is created from one of the first batik fabrics I ever purchased.

It's hard to see but the design is a zebra amid the purple and pink dyes.

Paired with a whimsical green and blue polka dot batik,

this Free Style Cobblestone block will be near the edge of my bed quilt.

Red Heart Fabric Brooch & Day 25 A Block A Day Challege

Valentine's Day is coming quickly

and brooches are back in vogue. 

 This one has tiny red fabrics and 3 vintage glass buttons. 

Another block was added to the strip.

Slow progress is still progress.

Now her "Sprout Stitch"  has made it's apprearance

into yet another Quilted Heart - purple this time.

Actually it had more design elements added to it

but I took them off after getting suggestions from my art group today.

Procrastination Is Not Fun - Day 21 A Block A Day Challenge

Yesterday I shared the drawing for my Photo Challenge piece

and mentioned I was a wee bit behind.

So I sewed late last night and forgot to post.

Creating these "blocks" from green batiks

and then white/cream batiks took more

time than I planned. 

I am reminded that especially when I'm

doing something "new" and not so familiar to follow my normal plan:

pray then just start, pray and continue.

Photo Challenge Design & Day 20 A Block A Day Challenge

I like a artistic challenge - no surprise there.

This one sounded simple enough - 

take photos of downtown Asheville, choose one

and use it for inspiration for a Quilted Art piece.

I've been procrastinating for weeks pondering

how can I piece together what I want for this challenge.

Finally today, I began a sketch - NOT something

I normally do.  Did I mention this piece is due

next week!

Orange Snap Tape HeART Addition & Day 19 A Block A Day Challenge

Snap tape intrigues me

and since I recently obtained a baggie full of it,

I folded and embroidered it down on

 this Orange Embroidered HeART as a surprise element

amidst lots of hand embroidery.

Only 19 days into this challenge, A Block A Day,

it's tempting to feel like my progress is too slow.

I keep reminding myself -

"slow progress is still progress".

I began with my A Block A Day Challenge.

So, taking 2 created block and sewing them together

to create a larger block fits perfectly with my

I chose to begin another one since they are so much fun.
