I met recently with a newly formed Surface Design group
where we tried out Gelli printing using
a Gelli plate, textile paint and various
objects and shapes. I am creating a Fiber Art
Collage from my pieces where I used resists of thread spools,
a potato masher, bubble wrap, mesh and doily stencils.
Slow stitching these hand painted pieces together is
very relaxing.

Nice! You're so lucky to have a fiber group to play with . There is none in my area and I don't have the energy to start one. Love the stitching.
That looks really interesting, Julie. I'm wondering what part of North Carolina you live in... we spent four really enjoyable days in the Smokey Mountains this past spring. Our first time there, but hopefully not our last.
What a great idea to pull your surface design experimentation into a collage.
Great use of your experiments, gelli printing is so much fun!
I Julie - I LOVE your work and found you (again!) through the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop sponsored by Katherine's Corner. I featured your blog in my post that will go live later tonight at http://mamaslittletreasures.com/ if you want to stop by and take a look. I'll be back soon to see if you offer any tutorials or online classes as I would love to learn how to do this. I am also a fiber artist, and I am intrigued with this technique. Thanks so much for sharing at the blog hop, hope to see you again this week! Nina @ Vintage Mama's Cottage
