Asheville Meals On Wheels Place Mat & Napkin Challenge

 The Challenge 2015 for the
this year was  for the members to create
500 quilted place mats and napkins
to be given to each of the
I chose to combine this with my Scrap Vortex QAL to
purposefully use my remnants.
Do the remnants ever really get used up?

Little Hands Sewing From Nana's Scrap Bag

More fun from Nana's Scrap Bag as 1 year old grandson
"helps" sew his pillowcase too. This cool
wooden spool necklace is interesting...
but what are these buttons here?

Scrap Vortex QAL Pillowcase

One grandson's pillow case reveal from the Scrap Vortex QAL.
He helped a lot with Side 1
 and since he's 2 -well,
I was pretty much on my own during
nap time for Side 2.  No worries. He loves it!

Scrap Vortex QAL With My Little Helpers

My 2 Berlin grandsons are visiting while
their parents are in a conference stateside.
Of course, it's time to play in Nana's scrap bag
and create something fun.
So along with their choice of fabrics,
Any guesses of what we are creating?

April Art Daily 2015 - Day 24

One Granddaughter wanted help with an "atmosphere" school project -
I thought "Bull's Eye" would be perfect.
Other Granddaughter wanted project too
 and chose a lame butterfly.
One happy Nana sewing with little ones one her lap,
creations they designed and chose fabrics to use. Priceless.

Fabric Pyramid Class Project

While visiting recently, my grand daughter mentioned her class project
of creating a pyramid and the ideas she already had.
I suggested a fabric pyramid and she excitedly headed for my scrap bag.
She  traced the shape her dad had created onto fusible stabilizer,
choose fun fabrics, ironed them, then while in my lap,  machine quilted  her creation.
She/We were delighted with the end result.

Granddaughters & I Making Fabric Valentine

Watching my granddaughters toss fabric remnants from my batik bin in the air with glee and one says, "It's so soft!" makes for a fun afternoon.  Creating their color choices into a Fabric Valentine together to send to someone special  and then them taking turns sitting in my lap to guide the fabric through the machine is priceless.
