April Art Daily 2016 ~ Day 5

My original hope was to have a completed Fiber Art block daily
but realized that's not the point.
The point is to create daily and not worry about the outcome.
 Artistic Freedom!!
Black fiber screen on hand painted blue/green fabric.
I'll applique it to the fabric with blue embroidery floss.
SOOO...Keep going my friends - I know it's tough but so good to create something daily.

Italian Gedifra Velour Yarn Preemie Hat

While paring down my gleaned yarn stash,
I came across this unique and beautiful yarn.
Italian made Gedifra Velours is very soft and easy to use for
this newest Knitted Preemie Hat for the local Neo Natal Unit.
that is quick and brightens a sometimes long  hospital stay.

Hand Painting Fabric - Mickey Lawler Style

While looking for a fabric for the label of "What's In Your Hand?"
I decided to over paint a plain green hand dyed fabric.
This first one is using diluted Pebeo Setacolor Transparent paint
and the scrunch method.
This second piece is trying out a technique a fellow quilter learned in a
workshop with Mickey Lawler of Skydyes
sing a paint brush and salt.
They both came out nice.  I'll use the first one for my label.

Design Oppoortunity

The Unraveling "Silk Tea" Bag Hand
Design Opportunity from
gave me the opportunity to use a unique fabric
I gleaned recently at a Fiber Arts event.
The "new" hand is fused over the "old" hand.
This piece is ready for the facing edge and label.

Children Are A Gift

I tidied up a small bulletin board where I pin various "pieces" of art.
This machine writing was to be for a different project but it didn't fit.
This beautiful piece was a gift when my name was drawn
from BaumCat.
Both are the right color for the recipient's decor.
What great timing as these 2 pieces will be the base
of a composition I want to create for a upcoming baby shower.
Stay tuned.

Black Thread Quilting On Black Fabric??

It blends well as to not detract from the
black hands but it's a bit challenging
to see in process. Am I crazy?
Oh, and it's actually navy quilting thread
since I ran out of black quilting thread.
